Our Roots
Manitoba ALIVE is a longstanding non-profit organization with its roots planted in 1993 by Manitoba’s 25th Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable Janice Filmon.
Janice’s vision of inspiring our province’s youth to strengthen their voluntary efforts amongst their communities has resulted in a growing network of over 700 participants.
For over 30 years, students across the province have spent a weekend discovering what fuels their passions, how to channel their inner leader, and how to use these uncovered skills to bring change.
Our Principles
-
Volunteerism and leadership are better shared. Each person comes with a unique set of skills and knowledge that let us become better leaders through learning.
-
We want to welcome participants to an open and accepting environment where we can build respect for others and ourselves.
-
Manitoba ALIVE is built around letting you discover what’s important to you and how you can create change for the things that matter most.
-
Being a leader can be hard work, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun! Our workshops invite you to take charge and enjoy it at the same time.
Our Program
The Manitoba ALIVE leadership symposium is an incredible growth experience that provides an opportunity to develop critical leadership skills for the 21st century.
Both grade 10 and 11 students with involvement or interest in volunteerism are invited to apply with the recommendation of a school teacher, principal, or guidance counsellor.
There are no costs associated with this program thanks to fellow Manitoban organizations, so you can enjoy the symposium for free! Take a chance on yourself and apply now.
